Video Recording – High Definition Hard Drive Camcorders

DDI is offering a number of different hard disk based high definition video camcorders that will let you experiment with capturing greater detail and higher quality than ever before, without using video tape. See the links below for support information for the specific camera you are borrowing.

Ideas

  • Create short videos on topics related to sculpture, architecture or other visual arts using high definition footage of original works that allows for close examination of detail.
  • Create short videos that would use high definition footage possibly combined with high resolution scans of materials in Library Special Collections.
  • Demonstrate medical procedures or show footage that would benefit from showing additional detail in high definition.
  • Use high definition to document plants, animals or geology; possibly in conjunction with a microscope adaptor to record at desired level of magnification.

Before recording others, make sure you have the appropriate permission and releases! See below for more resources on permissions.
